2.4.4.c.c Storage and application of biodynamic preparations

500 preparation is stored in a container and then placed in a double-walled storage box. For 500P, compost preparations are mixed with the horn dung a few months after it has been removed from the soil, and then dynamized. As for the horn silica, once dug up, the 501 preparation is kept in a glass container in partial shade.

Some of the six preparations are fermented in animal organs (bladder, intestine, skull, mesentery), and stored individually. Two grams of each can then be added to formulations.

Dynamizer

All of these preparations (500, 500P, compost or 501) require dynamization before application. This step consists of creating as deep a vortex (whirlpool) as possible and then repeatedly reversing the direction. The liquid is set in motion from the centre to the periphery, and then a movement in the opposite direction creates energy chaos by "breaking" the vortex that has formed. The container should be made of natural material and have a rounded shape.
The stirring is ideally done outside, preferably using rainwater, when possible, heated to a maximum temperature of 37°C. The stirring process can modify the water's attributes and multiply the living forces and information present in the preparation. The stirring periods are precise and differ depending on the preparation.

When should these sprays be applied?

  • The 500 and 500P preparations are ideally applied during spring and autumn, towards the end of the day.

  • The Maria Thun preparation: Biodyvin certification requires an application after the harvest and a follow-up application before budburst.

Application 500
  • The 501 preparation is generally applied, like the 500P, during spring with several spray applications starting from the five-leaf stage and prior to flowering and in the autumn. Additional applications can be considered when there is a significant threat of fungal disease (from fruit set to véraison). This preparation should ideally be applied as close as to sunrise as possible. Spraying should be avoided on weak and/or young vines, vines suffering from water stress, and on bare soil.
