Manual thinning is labour intensive and time consuming, it can take from 40 to 100 hours/ha depending on the plot's vigour and the grape variety. It is a painstaking task that has to be carried out in a short window. If a vineyard's vigour has been well managed from the start, recourse to these corrective practices can be reduced or even eliminated. For example, if pruning and debudding have been meticulously implemented, thinning can be very fast and only require 10 hours/ha.
