Heavy rain and/or flooding can cause other damage besides root hypoxia. Water movement can lead to the displacement of surface soil. If this occurs (especially on a slope), it is possible to move soil back that has been washed down the slope by rainwater. Agricultural machinery can scrape up the soil at the bottom of the slope and deposit it gradually on the way back up. There are few curative solutions. The best approach is to take preventive measures by adapting the vineyard and reducing the risks of erosion, runoff and leaching.
