Replacement planting is optimized when it is carried out every year. In this way, variability is reduced within the plots and yields can be stabilized. If this is not possible for logistical and/or economic reasons, a replacement planting strategy can be planned in a more episodic way, or on plots or blocks of plots that are more easily improved. The second practice is, however, the quickest method since it focuses on small areas. Similarly, replacement planting on 25% of the vineyard each year in rotation is an efficient method in terms of logistics.
