After planting, some vines die for several reasons (see Vineyard Management):

Inadequate conservation and preparation of the soil and/or seedling before planting

High disease pressure can cause severe leaf damage and thereby reduce reserves.

Extreme weather conditions and lack of maintenance (watering)

A harsh winter and/or winter frosts

Too much water and nutrient competition

The passage of machinery, tillage, lack of protection of young vines
Select vine replacement can begin the following spring after the original planting. It is inadvisable to do any select replanting or plant in the summer, as the weather conditions are difficult for the survival of young plants. It is also possible that the first winter causes the death of some plants, which is why it may be preferable to wait one year in order to limit the number of planting operations.
